A brief description of the Gallery is given below: Entrance Foyer Traditional Kerala Mural Art A mural painting covering 125 sqft., depicts an episode from the Sanskrit drama Shakuntalam by Kalidasa ( circa 4th Century AD). This is executed on the inside wall Karen's mural art has been faithfully reproduced by a master of the art. The unique technique used in this work has been given in our handbook available for sale at the reception counter. Hall I - Ground Floor Shows specimens of traditional Thanjavoor art, works by the ( "Vompany school) including Raja Ravi Varma, the Matured Bengal School, Progressive Art Group ( Souza, Hussain, Gade); also Kishen Khanna, Examples of Abstract art in this hall are the works of Ram Kumar, Ganesh Haloi, Manu Parekh, G R Santhosh and K G Subramanian, Rini Dhumal, Bhupan Khaker and Laxma Goud, to mention only some. (First and Second Floors) Hall VI ( Third
Floor) Sculptures About fifty sculptures are distributed on various floors. Works by D P Roy Choudhary, Ram Kinkar Bajaj, Sarbari Roy Chaudhary and Nagai Patel are among those displayed. |
